This 6-week
webinar series runs March – April 2023 and focuses on skill building for
serving effectively as the Director of Nursing with an emphasis on effective
leadership and staff engagement, nursing operations and systems of care for
common conditions treated in the LTC setting. Guidance will include strategies for avoiding common deficiencies, staff
training/competency, performance improvement and QA activities targeting QM
areas, fundamentals of SNF/LTC reimbursement and oversight of MDS performance
and promoting 5-star quality. This session will discuss the components of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and the DON’s role and responsibilities for QAPI.
Objectives: At the completion of the training, the participant will be able to:
- Understand the components of a QAPI program
- Describe methods that can be used in performance improvement efforts
- Describe the DON’s roles and responsibilities related to QAPI program implementation
- Understand how QAPI activities can be used to improve quality metrics
Audience: This program is appropriate for nurse leaders including new or experienced DONs, ADONS, charge nurses, unit managers, staff interested in serving in a permanent or interim DON role, administrators, and corporate staff.
