Content: The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is a progressive program that is based on the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. Participants move from the Bronze level, to Silver, and then ultimately to Gold. The developmental nature of this program allows facilities to put processes and systems in place to improve the care and service to residents.
Bring your teams and join us for a Quality Award workshop facilitated by Cathy Bergland. Cathy has facilitated several sessions for NHCA and is well-received for her knowledgeable and practical approach. She is a trainer, judge, and examiner for the Quality Award Program, as well as the Chair of the Quality Award Board.
In this two-day, in-person workshop participants will examine the requirements and draft initial framework of the AHCA/NCAL Silver National Quality Award Application for award or renewal period. Participants will leave the workshop with a better understanding of what is required for the Silver Quality Award process. Beyond just winning the recognition, participants can learn how to use the criteria as a way to manage your facility to improve the care and service of your residents and other customers.
Objectives: At the completion of the training, the participant will be able to:
- Gain an understanding of the value of moving from Bronze recognition to Silver
- Understand the Silver technical requirements and criteria
- Learn the skills of how to describe approaches and processes in response to the criteria questions
- Understand how to effectively present results to manage the organization
- Develop a basic understanding of the scoring guidelines
- Take advantage of the opportunity to receive help with your specific application questions
Audience: This program is appropriate for all staff in assisted living and nursing facilities who have already obtained the Bronze National Quality Award within the last three years. Facilities may send individual representatives but are encouraged to send a three-member team consisting of an administrator, mid-level leader, and frontline caregiver.
Facilitator: Cathy A. Bergland (MBA, LNHA) AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Board of Overseers, Trainer and Judge; Lead Consultant and Trainer, CB Leadership Group
