Part 1: MDS Changes to Chapter 2 and Section AThis webinar will review changes made to the MDS Section A on Identification Information. Item sets with substantive changes in Section A to be discussed include Ethnicity, Race, Transportation, Entered From, Discharge Status, and Provision and Route of Medication List to Subsequent Provider or Resident.

Part 2: MDS Changes to Section B, C, D, F, and GThis webinar will review changes made to the MDS Sections B, C, D, F, and G. This includes Hearing, Speech, Vision, and Mood.

Part 3: MDS Changes to Section G and GGThis webinar will review changes made to the MDS Sections G and GG. This session will discuss how Section G items have been incorporated into Section GG.

Part 4: MDS Changes to Sections H-Q; Other Appendix/Chapter ChangesThis webinar will review changes made to the MDS Sections H, I, J, K, N, O, and Q, as well as other appendix/chapter changes. This includes changes to item sets related to pain management, nutrition, high-risk drug classes, special treatments, and goal setting.

Part 5: MDS Changes Impacting Medicaid ReimbursementThis webinar will review changes to the MDS that impact the Patient-Dirven Payment Model (PDPM). Areas of concern that may affect reimbursement will be discussed.

Part 6: Q&A with an MDS ExpertIn this webinar, hear directly from an MDS expert on your own questions related to changes to the MDS, effective October 1.

Objectives: At the completion of the training, the participant will be able to: 

  1. Explain the changes to Chapter 2 and Section A of the MDS
  2. Describe the changes to Sections B-G of the MDS
  3. Identify the changes to Sections G, GG, and H-Q of the MDS
  4. Navigate issues concerning MDS changes that may impact Medicaid reimbursement
  5. Review steps required to comply with changes to the MDS

Audience: This program is appropriate for administrators, owners, directors, directors of nursing, MDS coordinators, nurses, social services, rehabilitation, dietary, and activities staff in skilled nursing facilities.
