Content: The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program is a progressive program that is based on the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. Participants move from the Bronze level, to Silver, and then ultimately to Gold. The developmental nature of this program allows facilities to put processes and systems in place to improve the care and service to residents.

Bring your teams and join us for a Quality Award workshop facilitated by Cathy Bergland. Cathy has facilitated several sessions for NHCA and is well-received for her knowledgeable and practical approach. She is a trainer, judge, and examiner for the Quality Award Program, as well as the Chair of the Quality Award Board.

In this one-day, in-person workshop participants will examine the requirements and draft initial framework of the AHCA/NCAL Bronze National Quality Award Application. Participants will leave the workshop with a better understanding of how to use the criteria as an improvement tool, and to better focus and accelerate your performance excellence efforts.

Objectives: At the completion of the training, the participant will be able to:

  2.  Go “behind the scenes” of the assessment process and why using the criteria is important – beyond an award application
  3.  Understand the technical requirements and policies of the Bronze Quality Award process
  4.  Understand how quality improvement activities build a culture of continuous improvement and high-performance work teams
  5. Write the draft of your organization’s Bronze Quality Award application

Audience: This program is appropriate for all staff in assisted living and nursing facilities. Facilities may send individual representatives but are encouraged to send a three-member team consisting of an administrator, mid-level leader, and frontline caregiver.
