Nebraska Health Care Foundation

The mission of Nebraska Health Care Foundation is to invest in programs and initiatives designed to attract, develop, and retain Nebraskans who serve those living in a nursing home or assisted living community. Our fundraising efforts help create a healthy ecosystem of care and employment that provides our citizens with opportunities to live a fulfilling life. Nebraska Health Care Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, charitable organization by Nebraska Health Care Association in 1987. The foundation’s work and support includes:

  • $80,000+ in educational scholarships to individuals seeking to launch or advance a career in healthcare each year;
  • Cars for Caregivers, a program to help Nebraska nursing home and assisted living staff overcome employment barriers by providing vehicles for reliable transportation;
  • People Worth Caring About, an award-winning docuseries showcasing life and careers in Nebraska's nursing homes and assisted living communities;
  • Health Care Heroes League, a specialized curriculum for use in grades 3-6 afterschool programs and summer camps across Nebraska;
  • Comprehensive overhaul of the Nurse Aide Manual and Workbook to deliver a more interactive, best-practice-aligned resource for training Nebraska's nurse aides;

  • Statewide online medication aide course;
  • Equipment (e.g., manikins, intravenous therapy supplies) used in training direct care workers;

  • Spanish translation of the Nurse Aide Training Manual and Workbook;
  • Nebraska Health Care LEAD, a year-long leadership development program to grow Nebraska's long-term care workforce;

  • Resources on dementia and related issues through Now What? TV and in-service program;

Funding for this important work is raised through events, such as a golf outing and silent auction; campaigns for specific projects; and online giving.
