
Social Service Designee Training: On-Demand
42-Hour Training Program (4.2 Credits)

Course Objectives: At the completion of the program, the participant will be able to:
- Function in the role of social service designee in a nursing facility
- Assess the psycho-social and spiritual needs of the resident in a nursing facility
- Develop an appropriate psycho-social plan of care for residents in a nursing facility
- Contribute to an interdisciplinary team plan of care conference
- Utilize Nebraska resources in meeting resident needs
- Participate in the care team that provides services to the resident
- Function in the advocate role on behalf of the resident
Audience: This 42-hour on-demand training course is designed for the person with primary responsibility for the social service program in a nursing facility under 120 beds as defined in the state and federal requirements for nursing facilities/long term care.
Format: This course is completely online and "on-demand" on the Nebraska Health Care Learning Center training system. Attendees will receive an email with information on how to access the course within 24 hours of their registration.

College Credit: Nebraska Health Care Learning Center awards 4.2 hours of college credit upon successful completion of this course. See the Nebraska Health Care Learning Center Education Catalog (Published: April 2025) for credit requirements. To receive college credit, a high school or equivalent transcript and a Transcript Request form must be on file with NHCLC within 30 days of completing the course. Email or fax transcripts will not be accepted. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to receive college credit.
