 August 2 | Structuring Your Restorative Nursing Program

Participants will understand why restorative nursing is necessary and how restorative services can make a distinct impact on almost every area of your facility’s quality, care, and culture. Participants will learn how to design a restorative nursing program to keep the facility in compliance with federal law and state surveys and promotes keeping residents at their highest functional level physically, mentally, and psychosocially. The program will also focus on how restorative nursing can impact the minimum data set (MDS), the Medicare Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) rate, and the Medicaid case mix index. Specific training will be provided on integrating the multidisciplinary team with restorative services for the carryover of services into everyday life and activities.

At the completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Define restorative nursing including the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) mandate for restorative nursing and how it affects the facility and residents
  2. Identify the roles, levels, and goals of restorative nursing in the facility and how to support those services
  3. Identify Medicare A and common Medicare infrastructure strategies to facilitate increased resident function and potential facility revenue opportunities

Audience: This program is appropriate for owners, administrators, directors of nurses, and restorative nurses in nursing facilities.

August 3 | Structuring Your Restorative Nurse Aide Program

This program and will cover regulations, job descriptions, medical terminology, and documentation setup and requirements. The restorative program, with examples and demonstrations, will be explored in depth. Participants will understand why restorative programs are necessary and how restorative services can make a definite and distinct impact on almost every area of a facility’s quality, care, and culture. Participants will learn how to deliver a restorative nursing program that keeps the facility in compliance with federal law and state surveys and promotes keeping residents at their highest functional level physically mentally, and psychosocially. Specific training will be provided on integrating the multidisciplinary team with restorative services for the carryover of services into everyday life and activities. Each participant will also have a take-home, open-book skills test with skills demonstration sign-off. 

At the completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the roles, levels, and goals of restorative nursing in a facility including how to support those services
  2. Apply restorative services that can impact Medicare A and common Medicare infrastructure strategies to facilitate increased revenue at the facility level
  3. Schedule specific restorative programs with nursing, physical, occupational, and speech therapy in a facility

Audience: This program is appropriate for nurses, restorative nurses, and restorative nursing assistants in nursing facilities.
