Content: This training covers essential behavioral health basics, including diagnosis, treatment, and the crucial role of trauma in resident care. Participants will learn to recognize and respond to crises and escalation effectively. This training emphasizes practical skills, such as de-escalation communication techniques, hands-on role-playing scenarios, and thorough debriefing procedures following a crisis. Equip your staff with the knowledge and tools they need to enhance resident care and create a safer, more supportive environment for all.

Objectives: At the completion of the training, the participant will be able to: 

  1. Explain the fundamentals of behavioral health, including identifying the signs and symptoms of common diagnoses.
  2. Identify signs of a behavioral health crisis.
  3. Take appropriate steps to effectively intervene in a crisis.
  4. Utilize communication techniques to de-escalate crisis situations.
  5. Describe the importance of post-crisis debriefing and learn methods to reflect and learn from crisis situations. 

Audience: This program is appropriate for all staff in nursing facilities and assisted living communities.

Format: Registrants will have the option to attend in person or virtually. Each attendee will designate in-person or virtual format during registration. Registrants must attend in the format in which they are registered.
